For Scientists and ETs on the Laurence M. Gould:
The OS38 data acquisition system displays green panels when the raw
data streams have a good checksum. Fundamentally, if the panels on the
display have numbers in them (then they acquired data) and if they are
green then the data are good. More information about UHDAS is
contained here.
If for some reason the figures quit updating, check the panels and
make sure everything is green. If they are, DON'T ADJUST ANYTHING: the
raw data are good, but the processing software hit a glitch for some
reason. There is a good chance things will recover at
the next even 2-hour interval, when a new data file is started. If it
does not, the ET may start data acquisition again under a new cruise
name in an attempt to re-initialize the processing, but it this still
does not revive the figures after several hours, email us and we will
try to help (hummon@hawaii.edu, efiring@hawaii.edu).
When we get the data after the cruise, we will process it and send it
to the chief scientist if they are interested. Scientists are free to
walk off the ship with copies of figures from the web site and
the matlab files distributed there, but
please remember, the data contained there are preliminary. If you
intend on any serious use of these data, please contact us to see
whether there are updates or notices regarding the status of the
processing or your particular dataset.
Thank you
