The CODAS virtual computer images are presently built with 64-bit
Xubuntu 18.04 "Bionic Beaver" with `Virtual Boxv 6.0
<https://www.virtualbox.org/>`_, Your version of Virtual Box will have
to be that version or newer.

From this page you should get

(1) **Virtual Computer "OVA" file:**

    Virtual Box can import files exported using a similar version.

    Here is a pre-configured virtual computer for Virtual Box. 
    `codas_bionix_vbox64.ova
    <https://currents.soest.hawaii.edu/ticketing/downloadable/>`_.
    If you choose "open with the virtual box" be sure you activate
    the check buttom **Reset Your Mac Address**, in the second window of the VB.

    These files vary in size, but they are large: 6-10Gb to download, and  expand to
    more like 14Gb after it has been imported.

(2) **accompanying text file**

    These notes (`codas_bionic_vbox.txt
    <ftp://currents.soest.hawaii.edu/pub/outgoing/codas_bionic_vbox.txt>`_)
    are also stored **on** the virtual computer, but you can't see that
    until the virtual computer is installed, so we provide this additional
    copy separately.
