CLIVAR LADCP space requirements ------------------------------- :: (1) In the wet lab or other area near a pass-through to the hangar * 4 square feet, or 2 linear feet of bench space for battery charger, ethernet hub (if required), and LADCP data acquisition laptop. The space should be a relatively safe (dry) location to operate the laptop and charger (eg not between two sinks) * we will run a serial+power cable from the charger+laptop through the pass-through to the hangar, secure the cable in the hangar, and use it to connect to the LADCP+battery on the rosette for communication and charging. (2) In the main lab or computer lab, preferably in the same room as the CTD operations are occurring: * room for one person to set up two laptops, side-by side, for LADCP data processing and their own work. This should include space (eg behind the computers) for some manuals, external hard drives, clipboard, and other supplies. This usually takes 3-4 linear feet of bench space. (3) hot-swappable spares: Three boxes, with a spare instrument, a spare battery, and cables+connectors need to be secured in a location where they can be accessed during a cruise if needed (i.e. not at the bottom of science hold). (4) Not often, but occasionally, temporary bench space required for troubleshooting an LADCP. Depending on the instrument this could require 3'-5' of bench space for several days.
