Actions

UHDAS Performs the Following Actions:

Set up

• Creates the directory structure for a new cruise in ‘/home/data’

Data acquisition

• communicates with ADCP(s) to start pinging

• passively acquires strings from other serial ports

• outputs speedlog (NB only; if configured)

• makes intermediate versions of serially-logged ascii data:

  • rbin (parse ascii files, save as binary)
  • gzip old ascii files

Data processing

• makes gbin files (align serial data and pings to same UTC time)
• makes 5-minutes profile plots (for each transducer)
• runs quick_adcp.py (using gbins) to get CODAS database
• makes contour and vector plots from CODAS database (1hr)

Other

• rsync ‘/home/data’ to second internal disk (if installed)
• rsync ‘/home/data’ to external USB disk (if mounted)
• sends email to shipboard tech and land-based overseer
